Nakamuraken

traditional japanese confectionery since 1883

Nakamuraken, a Japanese confectionery shop was founded south of Katsura imperial villa in 1883.
Founder Yoshimatsu Nakamura made the original confection "Katsura Manjyu".
It was rustic, but became popular, because it was made wholeheartedly.
Thankfully this confection was once provided to Their Majesties in Kyoto imperial palace.

The most famous item of our shop is the rice cake "Mugitemochi".
It's a traditional confection for rice planting season.
We had delivered it to the rice fields in exchange for wheats.

In this way Our confectionery is related to seasonal, traditional habits and local people.
And now the current "Nakamuraken" is the 5th generation.
We hope to keep making the confectionery to please customers and communities.
